Finally, another thing underestimated by health professionals is the risk of stroke in women, long considered a man’s disease. However, stroke is the leading cause of death in women. They are aware of breast cancer but not stroke. It is possible to have it at any time in one’s life and ¼ of women have one during their life compared to 1/5 for men. 80% of strokes can be prevented. There are different risk factors such as high blood pressure, being overweight, smoking but also menopause for women and finally cardiac arrhythmia more frequent in the elderly. However, despite all the difficulties encountered by women, they live longer than men because according to INSEE a woman lives on average 85.6 years compared to 80 years for a man. As if nature is not so badly made!
